Where to Start?

Welcome to Welcome Smiles, where your dental journey begins with more than just an appointment- it starts with a conversation. If you are new to our office, we are thrilled to have you here! Our dedicated staff members are always available to talk to you and to answer any questions you may have before your first visit. We value understanding what your individual needs and expectations are so we can better prepare for your first in-office visit. When you feel ready, please give us a call and we will gladly schedule your first appointment.

When you come for your first appointment, remember to bring a list of medications you are currently taking and your dental insurance card to help you complete our new patient forms. In addition, any patients who are under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian during their first visit.

New Patient Exams

So you gave us a call, scheduled an appointment and filled out your forms. Fantastic, what’s next? Every new patient at our office must start their dental journey with a new patient exam. The new patient exam is a thorough exam to allow our doctors to evaluate your current oral health and create personalized treatment plan options for you.

Our new patient exams include DSD photos, X-rays, 3D scanning, and a comprehensive oral exam.

  1. DSD photos are used for facial analysis to design smiles in relation to your unique facial features.
  2. X-rays are used by our doctors to analyze previous dental prosthetics you have and to detect cavities or infections. There are two types of x-rays: bitewings and panoramic. Bite wing x-rays are use to help diagnose gum disease and cavities between your teeth. While panoramic x-rays provides valuable information about the maxillary sinus, tooth positioning, and other bone abnormalities.
  3. The Itero scans your teeth to create an accurate and precise 3D image of your teeth. These 3D images can then be used for future treatments including but not limited to fabricating your personalized whitening trays, night guard, and Invisalign treatments
  4. Comprehensive oral exam consists of the doctors evaluating each and all of your teeth for cavities, gum health, and more. Additionally, a cancer screening will be completed. For this, our office uses a device called the Veloscope to detect oral cancer and precancerous dysplasia using blue light.

After the exam, our doctors will give you a summary of your visit and answer any questions you may still have.

Still Anxious?

A visit to the dentist can be intimidating. But don’t you worry, our office takes pride in making our patients feel comfortable in our care. You can take a tour of our office, meet our caring staff, and learn about our state of the art equipments before committing to any appointment. At Welcome Smiles, we value transparency with our patients. Our staff will always explain what we are doing, what we are seeing, and what it means to you so you are never left in the dark about your oral health.
