Digital Scans: A Clearer, More Transparent Dental Exam Experience

Posted on: June 5th, 2025 | Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized

At Welcome Smiles, we believe your dental exam should be as modern and transparent as possible. That’s why every exam in our office includes a full digital scan using an advanced intraoral scanner.

You may not think twice about how your dental exam is performed, but here’s the truth: traditional exams – those quick visual inspections with a mirror and probe – can leave patients in the dark. You’re often told what’s wrong, but not shown. Understandably, that leads to doubt, confusion, and hesitation about treatment.

So we’ve changed that.

With our intraoral scanner, we create a full 3D model of your teeth and gums every time you visit. The scanner consists of small camera on the end of a wand that is connected to a computer, which uses the images captured by the camera to create the 3D model. It is completely painless, radiation-free, and takes just minutes. More importantly, it lets you see what we see.

  • Wondering why we recommended a filling? – We’ll show you the exact spot with early wear or decay.
  • Curious about shifting teeth or bite changes? – Our scanner tracks those changes over time, right on the screen.
  • Not sure if that crown is needed? – You’ll see the fracture line or bite issue with your own eyes.

No more guesswork. No more surprises.

Studies show that when patients can visualize their own oral health – like seeing a cavity or misalignment firsthand – they feel more informed and confident in their care decisions. Using scanners isn’t just about fancy tech – it’s about trust, clarity, and making sure you’re fully involved in your dental health.

We’ve embraced this technology because you deserve modern care. Every scan at Welcome Smiles gives us – and you – a clearer, more consistent picture of your oral health, year after year.

So the next time you’re in our chair, know that your exam is designed for you – to see more, understand more, and feel confident in every decision.
